Constellations with subtle bodies

Subtle bodies are the five bodies as explained under the heading ‘Guided constellations’, and the three mental bodies, which I explain below.

It is always beneficial to regularly repeat the five bodies or the three mental bodies in a constellation. It is a process that is constantly evolving. The mental bodies provide a great deal of information about yourself, and a constellation sets your thinking in motion. Thinking is one of the areas where we often fail to recognise the importance of healing.

For all bodies, the aspect that is constellated is the one that is meaningful or important at that moment.

Do not confuse the constellation with the five bodies with the constellation with the three mental bodies. So if you constellate the five bodies, do not add the three mental bodies to it.

Constellations with the five bodies on your own

The five bodies form a system within yourself that you can also constellate on your own. This is then a tuning in constellation. For an explanation of the five bodies, see the texts on this subject under the heading ‘Constellation with the five bodies’ in ‘Guided constellations’. Constellations with these bodies on your own are not an ideal situation, but they are possible. I do not call it an ideal situation because, when this constellation is done with guidance, much more can come to the fore. This can be particularly important for healing when dealing with fundamental systems such as the five bodies. But feel free to proceed on your own. It is a lovely, subtle exercise to do.

The three mental bodies

Everyone has three mental bodies. The first mental body is the original mental body. This is your own personal archive. It consists of the thoughts and beliefs derived from your perceptions and experiences, as they have taken shape within you. This is part of your tree of life; this is who you are. You cannot change this. However, you can heal it. But it will remain for a very long time.

The second mental body is that of your cultural archive. These are the thoughts and beliefs that have entered you from your environments across many incarnations, but which are never truly you. This mental body is, or was, your world. You can think of this as being surrounded by an energy that says: “important! Important!” Or, conversely: “inferior, lower.”

The third mental body is the mental body that shapes your current thoughts and beliefs. There may be much within this of which you are not immediately or fully aware, but which can be brought to the surface quite easily in a constellation.

We can refer to these three mental bodies as: the original mental body, the cultural mental body and the current mental body.

The mental bodies partly overlap. From the mental body run strong, broad lines (towards others and other times) and deep lines (towards your inner self, also across times). The mental body is very large in humans. This offers enormous possibilities, such as the great cultures that have been formed, currently exist and will be formed again. These enormous possibilities offer opportunities for the soul. In this way, the soul can grow. In this way, an innumerable variety of situations can also be created. So the cultural mental body certainly also has to do with who we ourselves are. That you don't think: “I want to get rid of that.” That is not possible. You will, however, become more sensitive to what suits you, what harmonises with you.

The spiritual body and its relationship to the three mental bodies in constellations

When you constellate the five bodies and stand on the mental body, you are likely to encounter the current mental body. If you stand on the spiritual body, there is a chance you will be dealing with one of the three mental bodies. It is not always possible to tell which of the three you are dealing with. It is therefore quite possible that someone does not land on an aspect of their actual spiritual body. That does resonate, however.

You can view the spiritual body as your original archive from another dimension, together with the soulful experiences of lives, which has come with you to Earth. We all originally come from another dimension, as a divine spark, the origin of our soul/higher self (whatever word you use for that deeper, original layer, the cosmic self). Over the course of lives, this is coloured and enriched by lived experiences. Part of this comes with you into your incarnation. You do not always connect with that spiritual body in a constellation. It is good to know this, because, when you constellate the spiritual body, you might start to think: “Is this really my spiritual body?” No, that’s right, it isn’t always.

One situation that may play a part here is when the spiritual body is not properly involved in the whole of a person’s existence because it does not consider it necessary, does not realise how important it is, prefers to do other things on other levels of existence, and so on. From the perspective of the physical body, this can be seen in a constellation and becomes ‘known’. Sometimes the body being may indicate that it really cannot proceed any further with a problem without the help of the spiritual body. The spiritual body can be constellated separately once this has become apparent. Once contact has been established with the spiritual body, it can be explained why it does need to be involved in a person’s earthly existence. It is not certain that a spiritual body is already ready or willing to hear this and act upon it. If it does, help can come quickly from this source.

Constellations with the three mental bodies

Another exercise you can easily do on your own is constellating the three mental bodies. Before you constellate the three mental bodies, you can do the subtle exercise described under the heading ‘Subtle exercises’, specifically the section: ‘Insight through percentage exercises.’

Constellating the three mental bodies is self-explanatory, isn’t it? Three sheets of paper with the three mental bodies, three small stones, an arrow on each sheet, and placing them on the floor. You start by tuning into the current mental body, then the cultural mental body, then the original mental body. You mainly do lots of rounds, but once you’ve observed something on a piece of paper, you also go back to it and see if anything else happens. Especially if you’re constellating them on your own, it’s good to do everything slowly, to keep observing very carefully – everything counts – and you’ll probably get the movement by continuing to do rounds.
