Connecting spiritually and getting in touch with ancestors
Perhaps you were already familiar with this concept, or perhaps you had not yet considered it: the power of ancestors in our lives is not yet widely recognised in Western culture. Much spiritual knowledge has returned to the forefront of people's minds. However, ancestors are still rarely mentioned in this context. In the West, the tradition of connecting with your ancestors is unknown, but in some other cultures this tradition has been preserved.
Through ancestor constellations, I want to contribute to giving them a place in our lives again. I am not the only one doing this. Ferry van der Loos and Margrete Vijlbrief from The Hague (the Netherlands) are pioneers in this field. They have set me on the path of ancestors, nature beings and constellations on a subtle level.
Through ancestor constellations, I am committed to bringing spirituality closer to people. In the constellations, I am a representative, in this case of ancestors, a role that is familiar to people who work with family constellations, and one that suits me well. I also offer an ancestor constellation without representation.
Because ancestor constellations take place in a ritual setting, they are not just a constellation but also a ritual. In this context, the terms ‘constellation’ and ‘ritual’ mean the same thing, and I use them interchangeably.
The ritual ancestor constellations offered through this website are characterised by the fact that ancestors who want to come, in what they want to reveal about themselves, can express themselves through me as a representative. That is a gift. However, it is important not to have too high expectations in this regard. An explanation of this follows on the following pages.
The ritual constellations with ancestors are aimed at healing the ancestral line and strengthening their positive influence in your life. I see the ritual constellation of ancestors as a spiritual event, and trust that the constellation is guided from the spiritual world.
On the web pages under the heading ‘Ancestor Constellations’, I explain the whole process in detail. As I am the representative, you will be the one who can make direct contact with your own ancestors. That is, of course, quite exciting. That is why I think it is important that, if you wish to do this, you bring a helper with you. Two heads are better than one, as the old saying goes. I am the representative, I have my role, and I have all the materials needed for the constellation. If you choose to do this, it is up to you to perform this ritual as independently as possible. That is why I think it is important that you have a helper. This is a lot for a single person to handle, especially as your ancestors will be appearing.
On the following web pages, I explain not only everything you need to know to carry out this ancestor constellation, but also how you can connect with your ancestors and what questions you can ask. If you are considering booking an appointment for this, it is important to read through the texts in full, except for the section under ‘Why ancestors?’, as that is not necessary for performing the ritual. The intention is that your helper also familiarises themselves thoroughly with this material and that you feel supported by this person throughout the entire ancestor constellation. When I represent an ancestor, the helper can also contribute ideas as to which questions might be appropriate to ask an ancestor. Not only you, but the helper can also ask the ancestor who appears questions.
There won’t be many people who have experienced or done anything like this before. That is why we hold a general rehearsal beforehand. During this, we go through everything together as realistically as possible, but without the ancestors. Not only you, but your helper or helpers must also be present. Without a general rehearsal, the ancestor constellation cannot take place. The rehearsal is also important for me. I act as a representative and must surrender to the person who makes contact with the ancestors. That is you and, if needed, your helper. To be able to surrender, I need to be certain that the ancestors are in good hands. It is also my responsibility towards the ancestors and the spiritual helpers involved in the ritual to ensure that everything proceeds smoothly. We must be reliable because we have special guests. A great deal of work is required from the spiritual world to ensure this goes well. The ritual setting is designed so that everyone involved knows exactly where they stand.
The rehearsal and the actual ritual ceremony always take place at my home in Doesburg.
Please take the time to ask any questions you may have before the final rehearsal takes place. By the time of the final rehearsal, you will have a clear understanding of the entire constellation and everything involved for you and your helper. If there are still too many questions during the rehearsal, we can postpone the ancestral constellation and schedule another general rehearsal for a later date. I do ask for a fee, but costs are only incurred for the actual ancestor constellation itself. If you wish to change your mind, that’s fine too. You’re never obliged to do anything. You’re always free to choose. Ancestors, incidentally, are too. It’s only during the ritual itself that everyone adheres to the agreements and we must be trustworthy towards one another.
To get an immediate idea of what you can expect from contact with ancestors as it takes place in this ritual: ancestors in this constellation appear from the lives they lived as human beings, and that is still how they experience themselves. You allow ancestors to remain in their experience of life from that time; you do not bring them into our here and now with questions. Your questions and those of the helper are always aimed, insofar as necessary and if an ancestor is not already sharing enough of their own accord, at gaining an understanding of what this ancestor wishes to convey about themselves in this constellation. So you do not make a comment such as: “Do you know that I am your great-great-grandchild?” You might want to know whether they are a man or a woman. For an ancestor, it can already be a challenge to bring that awareness to the fore in this constellation. Usually, an ancestor is well aware of this, but I have encountered ancestors who had to ‘think about it’ for a moment, to use our term.
You need to be patient and let them come to an answer when you’ve asked a question, or when they’re telling you something. You’re not speaking to their higher soul consciousness, which oversees a lot. You’re in contact with the person they were at that time. That’s why you can’t ask them questions about yourself or your own situation.

Ritual ancestor constellations
Ancestors are a big surprise to me. When I needed help myself, I found helpers in Margrete Vijlbrief and Ferry van der Loos in The Hague, the Netherlands. After a few important systemic constellations with them, an ancestor ritual that they offered remained for me. That took some getting used to. They were not on my radar, and I was not looking for them.
But I was surprised. Ancestors exist. They are real. They help. That became clear to me then. The first ancestor ritual immediately made an important difference in my life. It came at a time when I really needed help and strength quickly, and that is what happened.
The ritual ancestor constellations on this website suddenly came to mind. In the subtle-level contacts I set up with some loved ones in 2024, it soon became clear that we would also be dealing with ancestors. That worked well. Shortly afterwards, someone came into my life who I felt would benefit greatly from an ancestor constellation. For him, I created the first ritual presented here. The helper noted that it had been an ancestor constellation in which a clear theme had emerged. I hadn't noticed that myself. The term 'thematic ancestor constellation' was coined at that moment. (I would like to note here that the theme that stood out was one that became clear during the course of the representations in the ritual. It was not the theme that the questioner had presented. His theme was indeed addressed in the ritual, and was even resolved, but that was not so noticeable.)
The fact that there was a thematic ancestor constellation meant that there also had to be a general ancestor constellation. When designing the general ancestor constellation, I was inspired by my experiences in The Hague.
Representing has come easily to me from the outset. When I represent, I remain in my own consciousness. It is a light form of trance. The other energy joins in and I make room for it.
On the webpage 'Performing an ancestral ritual by yourself', you will find an ancestor ritual that you can perform for yourself, on your own. In this ritual, no ancestors are represented, but you do make contact with them. That is also a good option.
Case: Just two ancestors
Once, I experienced an ancestor I represented who could not say much about herself. She lived in a room where she received regular visitors. She was blind. She was completely happy when she was sometimes taken outside and could feel the sun on her arm. She came across as someone who was content with her life. In retrospect, I thought I was dealing with not only a physically disabled person, due to her blindness, but also a mentally less capable person. She was a mother, otherwise she would not have been in a constellation, but that was something she herself was not aware of. With a mentally disabled person, such a situation is quite possible.
What I also remember is that once a negative ancestor came forward, a person who was really very negative. At one point in the constellation, that ancestor was able to look at a painting hanging on the wall, a painting of a beautiful woman's face that also represented a very beautiful energy. That had a healing effect on the ancestor. The energy represented by the woman's face entered the ancestor and all negativity disappeared. This was, of course, a very important event for the ancestral line and the help that can come from it for someone.
