Spirit animals

Interview with Olly, 29 May 2026

Introduction

Unfortunately, we do not have a recording of this interview, although Teams indicated during the conversation that a recording was being made. Even the AI assistant Co-pilot initially couldn’t believe that no recording was available and insisted for a long time that the recording must be somewhere. Sadly, there is no recording. After the interview, we set about noting down our recollections. This text is based on those notes.

The topic of this interview was spirit animals. What Olly had to say on the subject was incredibly interesting. Definitely a theme worth revisiting.

Olly also discusses the roles of different animal species.

Following this conversation, Gemma set off on a backpacking trip for a few months.

Information from the interview

The opening question was whether Olly is familiar with spirit animals as they are used by people.

Absolutely. All groups of animals have a role. They all have distinct roles. Some are here for the Earth, some for people, and some for both the Earth and people. Butterflies fall into this last group.

We ask about the significance of spirit animals.

Spiritual animals will become important in the future once people start to feel this again. At the moment, they’re not yet focused on themselves. As long as people don’t start working on themselves and their own spiritual growth, spiritual animals cannot fulfil a role. Spiritual animals are not there for human affairs but for spiritual growth. So if you’re having problems within your family, in relationships or at work, spirit animals aren’t the right solution. That isn’t part of their role. It’s too trivial. Spirit animals operate on spiritual levels.

Which spirit animals do we have ourselves?

The spirit animal that can offer Gemma help at the moment is the butterfly. The butterfly symbolises spreading your wings freely, living in the here and now, without plans, without any obligations. Being fully present in the moment and feeling free.

The spirit animal that can offer Mirjam help right now is the tiger. The tiger symbolises pride, grace and moving through life with agility. The tiger goes its own way and does so with elegant self-assurance.

The spirit animal that is relevant to Edith at the moment is the wolf. The wolf symbolises strength, being very powerful, and the wolf represents the voice. Letting your voice be heard. The wolf is the announcer, the messenger. Being powerful in this, being powerful in what you stand for. Wolves are also clever.

Then one of us asks: “What about the ant? I can see they’re very busy and get a lot of work done, but what is their role? Can the ant also be a power animal?”

The ant is not a power animal for humans because the ant exists for the Earth, not for humans. The ant creates openings in the Earth so that the Earth can be in contact with the universe in which it exists. To shield itself from damage caused by humans, a thin energetic protective layer has been created around the Earth. This protective layer is not on the Earth’s surface but just below it, and is inaccessible to humans. It is, however, accessible to ants. This layer shields the Earth’s soul from the harmful influence of humans. To ensure the Earth retains access to the universe in which it exists and to cosmic influences, the ants create openings within this layer. That is their work. Through the openings created by the ants, a flow travels towards the Earth, not the other way round. The flow comes from the universe into the interior of the Earth.

People regard ants as insignificant. “It’s only an ant.” This means they can carry out their work undisturbed.

Ants never work alone, but only in large groups. Only in a large group can they fulfil their task.

The dragonfly is not there for humans either, but for the air currents, to keep them in motion. That, too, is important work.

The lion is there for nature. The bones it exposes provide nourishment for the Earth and nature. The Earth’s nourishment is part of a cyclical process of natural phenomena such as animals and plants, and it is important that this cyclical process is kept going.

The geese are there to fertilise the Earth. Their droppings are important for providing the Earth with nourishment – nourishment that is taken away by humans. Geese release nutrients into the Earth.

Wolves are very clever. Wolves are here for humankind. As a power animal, the wolf symbolises intelligence and speed, as well as spiritual progress and growth. The fact that wolves are returning to the Netherlands is therefore a good sign. The wolf will become important to people in the future, though it is still too early for that now. People are not yet focused on their own growth; instead, they blame their surroundings and others, and fail to look within themselves. The wolf can only return to people’s consciousness once people are open to what it has to offer. For the few who are already engaged with this, it can indeed be a spirit animal. As spirit animals, the wolf and the fox are closely related. There are few wolves at the moment because they cannot yet do much for people. They are not yet needed. This will therefore change in the future.

Fish are here for the Earth; sharks for people. (We didn’t ask any further questions about this.)

We also ask about flies and mosquitoes.

Olly replies that this isn’t for now. “We’ll do that another time,” says Olly.

Question: What about pets?

All species have their own roles. There is no such thing as a ‘pet role’. The roles are species-specific.

We are asking about the decline in animal populations due to the way we treat nature.

The fact that there are now fewer of certain animals is because they are no longer as necessary, or are no longer needed at all. Everything is going well in this regard.

Pests arise to restore balance where it has been disrupted by humans. Where there is no imbalance, there is no need for pests. Pests always have a restorative function. The locust plagues in Australia, for example, are there to clear away the waste that humans bring. After a locust plague, that area is clean again. That is very important for nature and the Earth.

Question: How can we call upon spirit animals for ourselves?

If a spirit animal is important to someone, that person can simply ask that spirit animal for help. There’s nothing special required. However, it is important to state clearly what you need help with. Simply asking that question clearly from time to time is sufficient. As a human, you might feel the need to have a photo of that spirit animal with you, but that isn’t necessary.

You can also ask spirit animals for help in general, without having a specific spirit animal in mind – for example, if you don’t know which animal can help you best. In that case, you’ll receive help from the spirit animal best suited to assist you. You don’t need to know which spirit animal this is yourself. So you can always turn to spirit animals in general for spiritual help, as long as they know exactly what you need help with. If you want to know which spirit animal is helping you, you can ask for that. Make sure it’s clear to them exactly what you need help with.

The help provided by spirit animals generally involves becoming more of yourself, being able to be more of who you truly are.

In itself, all the information is simply there. It is available to everyone. But do we humans sense this information? Are we open to experiencing it? In itself, it’s all there.

The very awareness that spirit animals can help us is, in itself, information that we will come to experience. Only then will spirit animals truly regain their significance for people, and will they be able to come to us and carry out their work once more.
